MOVEMENTS OF FOREIGN OFFICIALS (Continued)
which Sir Andrew and Lady Caldecott and Marshal and
Madame Chiang Kai Shek were the guests of honour.
Owing to a sudden indisposition Madame Chiang was
unfortunately unable to attend. A last minute guest
was Mr. Wang Chung lui, former judge of the International
Court at the Hague, who had just arrived in Canton.
Sir Andrew and Lady Caldecott left by the morning train
on the 19th September and were given a most cordial
send off. His Excellency appeared to be genuinely
delighted by the cordial reception which he received,
as well as by the excellent arrangements made during
his visit, and there is no question but that the visit
will have done a great deal to bring about closer
relations between Hong Kong and South China.
